Everyday we deal with the unplanned and the unexpected - from a broken toaster to losing (or gaining) a major client. Our natural ability to improvise gets us through. But we feel as if we re winging it, rather than acting with courage and conviction. Robert Poynton teaches an acclaimed method to some of the world s biggest brands and companies. Improvisational skills that an actor might use on stage are honed and applied to the everyday business of work and life. The end result is a new approach that embraces change as a natural process and has creativity and innovation at its heart. With killer games to put the theory into practice, Do Improvise will help you: Become more productive without trying harder; Overcome creative blocks and generate new ideas; Respond fluently to circumstances beyond your control Inspire and motivate others; Not sure what to do next? Improvise. Illustrations: 7 line drawings

It looks I'm reading the same thing as when i used to be into buddhist meditation - notice more, let go, use everything. Very clever book, you should have it in your everyday life to always remember what life is about and avoid being swept away by disasters, annoyments or hurtful comments: life is also about taking time, rebound, not react negatively to everything that come along, adapt yourself to situations, etc...Despite all we can see, life is umpredictable and we can't control everything.I advise this to take the time to cool down, your life will be permanently changed.

This great little book will get you perfectly in the mood to become a proficient off piste artiste. Creativity and adaptability lies in all of us and Rob is the accomplished guide. They say that its only by experiencing that you really learn. This is a book thats strong on stuff you can do.I'm convinced that in a few years time we will look back at Improv as the best entry point for a whole bunch of things from making a great pitch, to honing your negotiation skills, to just being happy with what is there. The material here comes from an Improv point of view but this book is not theatrical - it's a guide to how it applies to your here and now. For me it explores beautifully the balance between solid preparation and being flexible in the moment. In truth, its difficult to classify but if you are interested in becoming more creative, spontaneous, adaptable or just dealing with life's challenges with more of a smile on your face, this is a book for you.

Simple, insightful, practical book from an author (and a publisher) who has clearly thought deeply and worked hard to understand how improvisation can be applied much more broadly than the traditional applications of theatre and comedy. Well worth a read

One of the best impro books out there. Succinctly explains how improv works and the benefits it can bring to communication and creativity.

This book offers ideas for activities to get one to explore improvisation in a range of contexts. Really useful for working with groups.

A superb book which will make you think again about all the times you said No and stopped, when you could have accepted something and turned a corner. Brilliant ideas for work and home. I have already gifted it to 3 friends and counting...

Robert Poynton's style is intelligent, easy to read and thought provoking. It does what it says on the cover. The practises and exercise are easy to follow and do.
