A study of fascism as it evolved in Italy and Germany in the 1920s and 1930s. First published in French in 1936, this work contrasts the fascists' initially radical anticapitalist ideology with their moves to shore up the capitalist profit system once they formed government. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Facsism, a political development of the counter-revolutionary period of 1920-1940s, is analyzed and dissected in detail in this calssic work of Daniel Guerin, exposing its links to Big Businees and how the capitalist class (all of it) supported it as a way to crush definitely the prospect of a socialist revolution haunting Europe. Written in 1936, it remains fundamental, for it understood the essence of Fascism BEFORE Wolrd War 2 and the massacre of the Jewish -two elements that, because of their brutality, distort some of the fundamental principles of fascism. This is an analysis of pure fascism, before the horrors of the war, and when its original purpose was clear as crystal: crush the organised proletariat in favour of Big business. A must have for any person interested in social history.
