John Griffith "Jack" London (born John Griffith Chaney; January 12, 1876 – November 22, 1916) was an American novelist, journalist, and social activist. A pioneer in the then-burgeoning world of commercial magazine fiction, he was one of the first fiction writers to obtain worldwide celebrity and a large fortune from his fiction alone, including science fiction.

His short stories, “To Build a Fire”, “An Odyssey of the North”, and “Love of Life”, are also among his famous works. He also wrote about the South Pacific In such stories as “The Pearls of Parley” and “The Heathen”, and about the San Francisco Bay area in “The Sea Wolf”. Jack was a passionate advocate of Socialism, Unionization, and the Rights of Workers. He was also part of the radical literary group, “The Crowd”, in San Francisco. He produced several powerful works on the topics of Socialism, Unionization, and the Rights of Workers, such as his dystopian novel “The Iron Heel”, his non-fiction expose “The People of the Abyss” and “The War of the Classes”. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

    This collection of short stories is only really worth the read if you are a hearty Jack London fan; otherwise such literature is average for the outside readership.

    again some of his best klondike stuff, though you may already have it from other collections:Love of Life, Story of Keesh, A Days Lodging, Negore the Coward, The Sun Dog Trail, The Unexpected, The White Mans way, Brown Wolf

    Excellent stories set in Alaska giving a colourful view of its culture and wilderness. Solid character building and liked the short story format.
