I never am sure if my review is for the service, or for the item itself. The service was fine, as the book arrived well within the time limit set. However, the guide book is very poor. I'm planning a trip to Latvia and Lithuania, and read through a Rough Guide I bought. I thought that maybe another guide book could add something to my knowledge. But the Lonely Planet has much less than the Rough Guide, entire sections of the country are either not covered, or in a few paragraphs. The maps are poor as well.I recently travelled in Moscow using a Lonely Planet, and was impressed by its scope and accuracy. But this one is very weak. I suggest the Rough Guide.

a very comprehensive guide to the Baltic States. I hope to make it earns its keep next year 2018. I want to not only see the three capitals but also the countryside and visit some folk and dance festivals

  • By John Bullinaria on 14 September 2016

I always buy Lonely Planet guidebooks if there is one available for where I'm going. This one did not disappoint me - it covered all the major towns/locations in just the right level detail. As usual, the guide had useful maps, sightseeing, hotel and restaurant suggestions, practical information about travelling in the area, and so on. Overall, I'd certainly recommend this for anyone travelling in the Baltics.
