The British crown has placed a price on Jacky's head, so she returns to the Lawson Peabody School for Young Girls in Boston to lay low. But the safe haven doesn't last - a school outing goes awry as Jacky and her classmates are abducted and forced into the hold of the Bloodhound, a ship bound for the slave markets on the Barbary Coast. All of Jacky's ingenuity, determination, and plain old good luck will be put to the test as she rallies her delicate classmates to fight together and become their own rescuers.

Gripping book that I have already read twice! Fan read and a great story line again! Can't wait to read them all!

This fourth book in the bloody jack series is the best of the lot in my opinion. It is a fabulous mixture of genres, a pirate story full of nautical derring-do plus a prison story in the style of the great escape and such. The characters as usual in these books are very well drawn and tke some unusual turns here. I would say the target audience for these books is somewhat younger than me (30s) but any fan of Hornblower or even P O Brien will find something to like here in this cunning warm-hearted heroine.
