Brilliant new young fiction from comedy genius, Elys Dolan, creator of Steven Seagull, Weasels, and Nuts in Space.
High in the mountains are the Dragon Caves, and inside the deepest, darkest dragon cave, lives the most terrible dragon. And his name is Dave.
Dave's terrible (as in rubbish) at all dragony things. So when he finds a book called Knighthood for Beginners he decides to learn how to be a knight instead.
Dave sets out on a quest with his trusty steed, Albrecht the goat (all the best horses were taken), to be brave, chivalrous, and knightly in all ways. He'll be up against Sir Gnasty, who scoffs at the idea of a very small, strangely green knight and has an absolutely massive sword.
Hilarious fiction for young readers and fans of dragons, knights, and quests!

Praise for Steven Seagull: Full of cross-over jokes which will appeal to children and adults too, making it a perfect book to share. (Parents in Touch)"The inventive, zany text and captioned pictures are laugh-out-loud funny" - picked as The Sunday Times Children's Book of the Week (The Sunday Times)"A laugh-aloud book for newly confident readers, or for sharing aloud, this will have kids in fits of giggles - guaranteed!" (Parents in Touch)"A highly illustrated hoot, full of outrageous medieval mashups" (The Guardian)"Elys Dolan just seems to know what tickles a kid's funny bone, while imparting the message to be yourself, no matter what" (Financial Times)"This book will make a fabulous first chapter book for a child to read alone" (BookTrust)"At it's heart, it's a story of friendship, finding your strengths and the love of books" (Yorkshire Post)"Children will adore the slapstick silliness and there are crossover jokes aplenty for their parents" - picked as a book to watch by the Bookseller (The Bookseller)

We are all big Fans of Elys Dolan in our household and all her books go down a storm at bedtime. We have been reading Knighthood for Beginners as a family tackling a chapter at night at bedtime. Our son (aged 6) reads Dave's parts, the hubby is a rather freaky but inspired ALBRECT! and I tend to fill in all the others parts. It has been an enjoyable change to read a chapter book as it has lasted us a couple of weeks which is nice. Our son loved it so much that we immediately and to repeat and do another full read through. We particularly loved Albrects adventure stories and how cleverly Dave does things in a different way. Dare to be different and follow your dreams, work together and always find the good in things are the clear messages for my family in this fantastic fantasy romp. I hope you write a sequel Ely's, we would be super excited to read it.
